A PEACEFUL AND JOYFUL WEEK

where Latin will be our common language.  For the Latin language is even today the living language of the Church;  it is a key which opens the spiritual treasury of the entire Christian era.  During this week we will have a unique opportunity to speak and understand Latin better, and to strengthen our love of God and our Catholic Faith.

YOU WILL STAY

at the House of Prayer (Casa de Oración) Octaviano Márquez y Toriz, Calle Santa Elena #4, San José del Puente, in Puebla, “the City of the Angels” a beautiful and contemplative place overlooking mountains and the volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccihuatl, and with gardens all around.  Very good food will be served to you — breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The bedrooms are pleasant and clean and each has a bathroom and shower.  Puebla is a World Heritage Site.  On one day we shall make an excursion to some of the beautiful old churches in the region and to other ancient and colonial places of interest.  The cost to stay is very reasonable;  room and meals are included in the one price.

DON’T BE NERVOUS

Using the living Latin language will not be difficult for you, because we proceed in a different way.  (If this is the first time you are coming to a Cenaculum, a small dictionary might be helpful.)  Come without the fear of making errors.  There are no critics among us.  In the company of others you will experience Latin as a truly living language, completely suitable for the times in which we live.  With practice you will learn useful expressions for cultivating Latin conversation.  By speaking together, listening, and laughing, the Latin we knew from our previous studies will be liberated and transformed into a real means of communication.

for the good of Holy Mother Church, for the good of Catholic Culture, for our own good.
⚜     PROGRAM     ⚜
  1.  Liturgical celebrations :  Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and Liturgy of the Hours;  Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Eucharistic Benediction.
  2.  Witty lectures about Catholicism, dealing with such things as the Faith, prayer, history, the Saints, the Popes, and other matters of great interest.
  3.  Lighter diversions in Latin, especially for beginners, but also for all those who have a sense of humor.
  4.  Discussions on better ways for learning, teaching, and speaking Latin.
  5.  Video presentations, wherein by the aid of pictures you will more easily understand Latin as a living language.
  6.  An outing to see some beautiful sites in the surrounding region.  We’ll speak about them in Latin.
